EWT switchable smart film is a unique product that lets you switch between clear and frosted effects on your glass windows and partitions with just the press of a button. With EWT smart film, you can control the opacity of any glass window or glass wall with the flick of a switch. This frees you from the use of blinds and curtains for privacy and solar control, while not compromising on large windows, clear views and lighting on demand, essentially opening up your space to infinite possibilities.

Our Smart Film transforms standard glass into intelligent “switchable” glass, allowing you to toggle between transparency and complete privacy in less than 100 milliseconds. We use premium Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology which operates by controlling the alignment of liquid crystal molecules within a polymer matrix using an electric field.

Our Smart Film acts as a retrofit solution that can be surface-applied to existing single glazing or integrated into laminated glass and double-glazed units.

How It Works: The Refractive Principle

EWT offers premium Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) Switchable Film. This advanced material operates by controlling the alignment of liquid crystal molecules within a polymer matrix using an electric field.

Privacy MODE (OFF State)

Without power, the liquid crystal droplets are randomly oriented. This mismatch in the refractive index scatters incoming light, creating an opaque, frosted appearance for full privacy.

Transparent Mode (ON State)

When AC power ($65-110$V) is applied, the liquid crystals align parallel to the electric field. The refractive index matches the polymer matrix, allowing light to pass through with minimal scattering.

Is EWT Smart Glass safe for commercial buildings?
